Innovation in Forestry for Biodiversity and Biosecurity
19 November 2019
Mendel University in Brno
Forests cover about 30% of the Central European territory. The forest value chains are engines of rural growth and generate benefits to society, including societal benefits. Forests and the forest sector can greatly contribute to delivering sustainable solutions to current and future societal challenges such as promoting the circular bioeconomy, protecting biodiversity and enhancing natural resources. Forests are also increasingly exposed to the effects of changing climatic conditions. Sustainable forest management is greatly linked to responsible landscape management and jointly address social challenges.
Czech – Austrian foresters forum focuses on strengthening current debates in the fields of innovation, biodiversity and biosecurity. It also provides space for opening new discussion topics, analysing opportunities and challenges for enhancing the contribution of the forest sector to sustainable future development. It also showcases successful examples and best practises in forest management in the Czech Republic and Austria.
The conference held under the auspices of Prof Danuše Nerudová, Rector of the Mendel University in Brno and the professional patronage of Prof Libor Jankovský, Dean of the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology at the Mendel University in Brno.
The meeting is jointly organized by the Mendel University in Brno and the Foundation Prince Liechtenstein.
